Meet our Founding Headmaster - Ed Caughlan
We are excited to announce that following an extensive and thorough selection process spanning several months and involving many qualified candidates, we have appointed Mr. Edward Caughlan as the founding headmaster of Chesterton Academy of the Immaculata.
We believe Mr. Caughlan's enthusiasm and love for our Catholic faith, combined with his passion for classical education, will create a truly joyful and nurturing environment for our students. He has already begun interviewing faculty and assisting with our rolling admissions as we prepare to open our doors this September. We are confident that under his leadership our institution will flourish, fostering a love of learning and nurturing the spiritual growth of our students and community. Please join us next Wednesday evening for a special virtual opportunity to meet Ed and hear more about his vision for the school
Meet Mr. Edward Caughlan
Edward Caughlan returns to New England, where he was born and raised through early childhood. He spent summers on Cape Cod and learned to ski in Vermont. He is devoted to classical education, currently serving as Headmaster at the Chesterton Academy of Northern Utah, where he teaches philosophy, science, math, and history.
Ed found his love of teaching as an instructor at a camp in the Adirondacks. After attending the University of Virginia, he embarked on his 15-year teaching career in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In his time as an educator, he has served in many school-related capacities including, but not limited to, teaching multiple grade levels and academic disciplines, founding an ultimate Frisbee club, and constructing a nature trail for Stations of the Cross.
Looking to the leaders of our faith, Ed seeks to follow the example of Saint John Bosco in his dedication to students, Venerable Fulton Sheen in his logical and eloquent communication of the Truth, and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati in his devotion to the Eucharist and coming to know God more deeply in Creation through vigorous outdoor activity.
We can't wait to introduce you to Ed!
